Troubleshooting your Galaxy S10e that’s not charging

The following are some of the most common situations you may encounter if you’re using the new Samsung Galaxy S10e or any Galaxy device for that matter. Try to go through each of them…

Galaxy S10e not charging with ‘moisture detected’ error

Since Samsung started creating water and dust resistant devices, the error message “moisture has been detected” started to pop out but the first flagships to have sported this feature weren’t really accurate as there were cases we know of wherein this error showed up but there were no signs of liquid on those phones. But last year’s flagship, the Galaxy S8, was actually spot on when it comes to this error. So, when it says there’s moisture detected in the charger port, most probably there is moisture in the port. The Galaxy S10e is obviously better than the S8 so it must also be accurate when it pops up this error.

The immediate result of this error is that your phone will stop charging. This is to avoid further damage that may even result to complicated hardware issues. If your Galaxy S10e no longer charges and keeps showing this error every time you connect it to its charger, then the best thing to do is to let the phone air-dry: just place it on the table upright and leave it there for an hour or two. I would also recommend you turn the phone off while letting it dry out the moisture in the port.

It is also possible that there’s moisture in the cable so you also have to clean it up especially the end that you connect to your phone.

However, if you badly need to charge your phone, then you should use the wireless charger. This error won’t show up if the phone is charging wirelessly.

Galaxy S10e not charging with black and unresponsive screen

This case is probably due to a system crash wherein the phone refuses to turn on or respond. The best way to address this is to do the forced reboot procedure by pressing and holding both the volume down and power keys together for 10 seconds or more. This will simulate battery pull and reboot your phone. If your Galaxy S10e successfully boots up after doing this, then it should charge normally after that.

Connect it to its charger or place it on top of a wireless pad to charge. If, however, it remains unresponsive, then you should try this:

  1. Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. Press and hold the power key while holding down the volume down button.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

It’s basically like the first procedure only that we’re making sure the power key is pressed and held after the volume down. Remember that doing otherwise may not give you the result you need to boot the phone up. If it still won’t respond to this, then here’s what you should do next…

  1. Connect the phone to its charger that’s plugged into a working AC outlet. Make sure to use the original cable.
  2. Regardless whether the phone shows it’s charging or not, leave it connected to its charger for 10 minutes.
  3. Now, press and hold the volume down and power keys simultaneously for 10 seconds or more but this time while your Galaxy S10e is connected to its charger.

Galaxy S10e not charging wirelessly

If the wireless charger doesn’t work on your phone, then try charging your Galaxy S10e using the wired charger and if it does charge properly, the problem could be with the wireless charger only. If possible, try using a different wireless charger.

However, if your Galaxy S10e is still not charging with the wired charger, the problem should be in your phone. You should bring it back to the store so that a technician can check it for you.

Galaxy S10e not charging via wired charger

In case the phone isn’t charging via wired charger but charges fine with a wireless charger, then the problem could be with the charger only. To verify further, you should try using a different wired charger to know if your Galaxy S10e is still capable of charging. You may also try connecting your phone to a computer or laptop. If it responds, then it’s a sign that the charger is defective. If not, try using a different cable and if the result is still the same, then the problem is with the hardware with your phone. The best course of action is to bring the phone back to the store.
